Assistant Professor of Medicine, HMS
The physical, mental, and economic toll of asthma is magnified in patients with metabolic dysfunction and obesity. Yet, this population is underserved by current asthma therapies. My work focuses on improving care for patients with asthma through clinical research on the role of metabolic dysfunction in respiratory disease and the underlying mechanisms of inflammation. This clinical and translational work at the intersection of allergy, pulmonology, and endocrinology, draws on data from electronic health records, the Mass General Brigham Biobank, clinical trials, and lab-based collaborations with basic scientists. I direct the Metabolic Asthma and Allergy Clinic. I also hold an appointment in the BWH Division of General Internal Medicine where I lead interdisciplinary projects related to electronic health record-based research, asthma outcomes and adverse drug events (drug allergy).
